The EU electronic plant protection record in Malta, for free
Updated: 1 October 2026
Under Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/564, the record of plant protection product use is kept in electronic, machine-readable form. From 1 January 2027 every application has to be in it. Agro GPS lets you keep it for free, with the official Maltese list of plant protection products built in.

What the rule says
- Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/564 sets the content and format of the records that Article 67 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 requires from professional users: product, authorisation number, date, dose, area and crop, in an electronic, machine-readable format.
- Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2203 lets Member States not require the electronic conversion of uses before 1 January 2027. From that date every use has to end up in the electronic record.
- Malta adds no national fields and has no channel for sending the record to a state system: the record stays with you and you show it at an inspection.
What Agro GPS does in Malta
- Official list built in. The list of plant protection products of the Food Safety and Security Authority (FSSA), as at 3 June 2026: 662 entries, including revoked products and products in their grace period.
- Product warnings. If a product is revoked, the app shows it in red before you save; if it is in its grace period, it tells you until when it may be used. The Maltese list gives the crops as free text, so the app cannot check the crop automatically: it tells you so and points you to the label.
- Your parcels. You draw them on the satellite map; the area is calculated for you.
- No signal needed. In the mobile app, an application is saved on the phone without coverage and syncs when the signal returns. Checking the product against the list needs a connection.
- Export in the EU format. The Reg. 2023/564 record as machine-readable CSV or JSON, always free, even without a subscription.
- In English, on the web and on iPhone.
